Selinah- April 2009
This photo shows one of our Clinic patients, Selinah, at the start of her Antiretroviral Treatment in April 2009. She was desperately ill and in the final stages of AIDS when we first met her.
Selinah- August 2009
Selinah, just 90 days later. Much stronger after taking her Anti Retroviral treatment each day. Her improvement is called the Lazarus effect, this term is used to describe the powerful effect that such medication can have. HIV need not be an instant death sentence; by taking one's meds every day, it is very possible to improve your quality of life dramatically. Please help us to spread this message of hope.
He's got the whole world in his hands
A child in one of the communities plays with a soccer ball. Soccer fever was to be seen in 2010, even in the most remote areas!
Beneficiary family
Beneficiary family of our Orphaned and Vulnerable Children's project. We provide school uniforms, food parcels, psychosocial support, access to state grants and a number of other services through this project.
Food gardens
Vegetable gardens the size of a door can feed a family of four with veg for a period of a year! The Topsy Foundation has assisted families to set up hundreds of food gardens as part of the Vegetable Garden Project and the Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Project. Beneficiaries of the OVC project have to have a food garden if they are to be part of the programme.
Oupa tends a food garden
In South Africa, 'Oupa' is translated as 'Grandpa', but our Oupa is anything but! Oupa has worked for the Topsy Foundation since 2004 and he juggles a number of important roles, one of which is to teach people how to set up and maintain a successful food garden. Oupa is proud of his work in our communities, and we are very proud of Oupa.
Open Heart
At Topsy our dedicated Fieldworkers open their hearts to our Orphaned and Vulnerable Children - who bear the worst impact of the HIV and AIDS epidemic
Helping Families
We aim to assist deeply impoverished rural families in South Africa - affected by HIV and AIDS
Every child needs to be looked after
In our work, we hope that saving lives that would have otherwise been lost to HIV, means that children will be able to be looked after by their families - and not orphaned.
