We provide free and discounted theater tickets to students from economically disadvantaged schools and provide resources for teachers to connect our plays to required classroom curriculum.
Diminishing school budgets make it difficult for many schools to afford theater field trips, particularly the most economically disadvantaged schools. In addition, as schools place increasing value on students' test scores, many teachers are struggling to find ways to incorporate arts education into their classroom curriculum.
We will provide over 7,500 free and discounted tickets to students from economically disadvantaged schools, and we will provide teachers free resources and training opportunities to help them incorporate our plays into daily lessons.
Oregon Children's Theatre encourages youth reading and literacy because almost all of our plays are based on books. In addition, our productions create an effective gateway into a lifelong appreciation of the arts.
