Summary
The List Project is building a support fund to help recently resettled Iraqis defray emergency costs.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The Iraqis on our List have waited many months to be resettled in the U.S., due to the lengthy U.S. resettlement process, and have been forced to spend any savings they had on living expenses. In addition, each Iraqi must pay for all application fees and flights to the U.S. We hope that the Emergency Support Fund will help some of our most desperate arrivals in their initial shock-filled weeks.
How will this project solve this problem?
The List Project team will be in contact with each of our arrivals to determine how our funds can best be distributed. With the help of the List Kids volunteers, the children of recent Iraqi arrivals will get school supplies and care packages.
Potential Long Term Impact
The List Project believes that the Emergency Support Fund will not only help Iraqis in the short-term with costs, but will encourage those who benefit from the project to give back to another refugee family in need.
