In 1995, she created the very successful Diary Project, an on-line forum for teenagers. She has been a consultant for the California Coastal Commission since 1996 and in 2001, founded Search for the Cause in 200, investigating how exposures in our daily lives increase the risk of cancer. Later founding Teens for Safe Cosmetic coalescing teens around the country, now known as Teens Turning Green.
