Summary
Teens Turning Green is a teen led campaign to inspire, inform and empower teens to eliminate toxic exposures from their daily lives, schools, and communities.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
TTG provides programming for students in schools across the country to raise awareness about toxic exposures found in their everyday products that may be linked to cancer, asthma, reproductive harm, and other health risks. Through peer based learning activities and advocacy training, empower new youth leaders to advocate for greener alternatives and ensure healthy environments.
How will this project solve this problem?
Students can start a TTG Chapter using the web-based toolkits. They are guided through the following steps by teen mentors; assemble a team, inventory products, investigate ingredients, analyze harm to health, advocate for change and tell the world.
Potential Long Term Impact
TTG reaches 100,000 youth annually inspiring them to become activists, educators, mentors, leaders, environmental stewards, and innovators by providing the tools, resources, and support they need to become change makers in their world.
Project Message
I first got involved when a teen came to my school to lead a presentation and was shocked by the information she shared. I wanted to learn more. Now I want to be the spokesperson and teach others.
