Summary
Women & children represent 70% of those living in poverty in the U.S & globally. This program provides women with the skills, education, and resources to end poverty in their communities.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Women and children represent 70% of those living in poverty within the U.S and globally. Of the 37 million Americans living below the poverty line, approximately 14.6 million are women, 13 million are children. Women and children represent 75% of those living in poverty within the U.S. For women living in poverty this represents a staggering number equal to the combined populations of Iowa, Indiana, and Wisconsin. For children living in poverty, this represents a rise of 1.3 million since 2000.
How will this project solve this problem?
Provide women with leadership skills, education, financial skills and resources to increase health and security of families. Your contribution allows marginalized women to build a safety net and succeed.
Potential Long Term Impact
Training women to address the issues that perpetuate the cycle of poverty creates large-scale change for millions. When women and girls gain access to sustainable economic self-sufficiency skills so do their families and communities.
Project Message
As we know from long and indisputable experience, investing in women and girls has a multiplier effect on productivity, sustained economic growth … education and health.
