Tahoe Ride for Rett Syndrome, June 6, 2010

$24,265 $15,735
Raised Remaining

Casting 4 A Cure established the Tahoe Ride for Rett to raise critical research funds to help find a cure for Rett Syndrome, a debilitating neurological disorder that affects young girls.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Rett Syndrome research is critically underfunded compared to other disorders of its magnitude (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, etc) . 90% of research funding has to come from private donors.

How will this project solve this problem?

The money that we raise will go towards screening over the counter drugs that are currently FDA approved for other uses, but will hopefully have positive effects on Rett Syndrome patients.

Potential Long Term Impact

Rett Syndrome is considered one of a few nerological disorders that has a strong chance for finding a cure b/c of the fact that researchers have uncovered the faulty gene, there is a great amount of hope that a cure will lead to a breakthru in Autism
