Dear FCDE Supporters,
We are so pleased to be able to start sharing the stories and progress of our organization’s work. It is exciting because we have so many inspiring stories to share. It is also exciting because it means that enough of you have chosen to support our organization and our approach to helping communities develop and prosper. We truly appreciate and thank you for your confidence and support.
At the heart and soul of our work are the local Ugandan grass roots organizations with whom we partner. In each of our upcoming reports we will highlight one or two of our partners and their work. Know that behind the scenes, FCDE works to help these organizations be more successful through trainings, grants, access to our resource center and countless other ways.
Green Home was founded in 1996 by community members concerned with the lack of women’s rights, Green Home’s mission is to build the capacity of women to become economically independent and to live a sustainable life through strengthening their household income levels, gaining knowledge and skills of sustainable agriculture and resource mobilization. You can learn more about Green Home by clicking the link below.
Renzori Rural Health Services (RRHS) is a Community Based Organization (CBO) started in 2005 dedicated to providing health care and health related services to people in rural areas of the Rwenzori Mountains. RRHS works to raise local living standards by extending health care services that are accessible to the community.
RRHS has initiated construction of a health center and health lab. They are now working to raise funds to complete the construction and equip the facility. You can learn more about RRHS through the link below.
Our organization, FCDE, recently completed another two-day training for 10 local partners. Providing a series of six workshops over an 18 month period is one of the ways that FCDE helps develop the capacity of our partner organizations. This most recent workshop focused on preparing for, designing and writing grants to support their programs.
This workshop is particularly appreciated by our partners. After the workshop FCDE awards 3-5 grants of up to $1,500 each to our partner organizations. These funds are used to expand vital services, help increase the incomes of people living in poverty and strengthen environmental standards used by small farmers. These grants would not be possible without support from people like you.
You can follow the link below to see our program staffs’ summary of the workshop and organizations involved in the training.
I hope these stories and this information inspires you.
Thank you – FCDE staff and board
