Help Sustainable Farm Community for Malian Orphans
Dr. Amadou Sidibe and students
Dr. Amadou Sidibe, earned a PhD from the University of Pittsburg. He taught at the University in Bamako, Mali. Since his retirement, he's moved to the village where, in addition to farming, he enjoys teaching orphans and vulnerable children. These children don't have any families and cannot afford school expenses. They are eager to learn and they know that Dr. Sidibe will help them learn and finance their school, so they gather at his house for learning sessions.
Rokia Teaching
Rokia (the teacher here) had been sent to her grandmother's to help with chores. She was attending school but her school closed due to lack of funding. She went to Dr. Sidibe's house and asked him to teach her. Dr. Sidibe tutored Djeneba. 5 years ago, Rokia was in 3rd grade and could not read a the first grade level. Now, she has the highest grade in her class, and she teaches other children.
