Since 2000 ph15 works with children and young people living in vulnerable situations in order to connect them with new visual communication tools, and through them promote the opportunity to improve their own realities.
When we think on what we have been doing for the past ten years, necessarily we must think back on our origins. ph15 arose from decisive action: a group of five young men living in Villa 15 "Hidden City" came to a working professional photographer to learn more about his craft. Such was the interest and desire of these young and enthusiastic, both the photographer and his team, that a week later they were starting the first photography workshops of the community.
That same enthusiasm of those first days is what keeps us working hard: annual visual arts workshops in eight communities of the central district of Capital Federal and the suburbs of Buenos Aires, a total of 450 children and young people joined the workshops, eight of them have become teachers and assistants, and are responsible for the continuity of the projects of the organization. Many of them had the chance of taking over the technical tools to generate their own productive enterprises.
All what we have achieved over the past years have only been possible from the generous support of society: those who trust and believe in our proposals, and had donate all kind of materials, more than 50 national and international artists and organizations have contributed with their knowledge to make our proposals for training even better, educational institutions that have provided scholarships to many students of our organization, almost 200 national and foreign volunteers who selflessly had contributed with their work to help us grow, civil society organizations that became working partners. All in all, it has been a significant amount of people and organizations, which without them everything we did so far would have not been possible, and the future seems only possible with their support.
We are celebrating ten years for all that we had overcome together, and allows ph15 to believe one day it will be possible to fulfill that same vision that motivates us everyday: a society that appropriates the visual arts as a tool for social transformation.
Help us succeed.
