This project’s goal is to provide access to credit to rural & urban communities for water and sanitation projects. Access to safe water and sanitation facilities will reduce water-borne diseases.
Currently, community members are paying more for water (in terms of time and money) than higher income neighbors. WaterPartners' India partner holds 4 years experience providing loans to self-help groups for water & sanitation improvements & have proved that the poor are willing to pay for the improvements. The project will catalyze on that experience & provide operational support for start up costs and support a new program that will declare over 250 villages “100% free from defecation” in 2008
Enable low-income families to have access to credit for water & sanitation facilities: Disburse 3,000 loans for water & sanitation products: Expand the area in which our India partner currently works, to provide access to credit to more communities.
Project will disburse 3000 loans. Over time, the area in which our India partner currently works, to provide access to credit will expand to help more people. It will allow our partner to continue to develop long-term operational and business plans.
