Thanks to your generous donations, the students who participated in our Sexual Education and Social Education workshop have started their career training! Read on to find out more about the positive experiences of those involved. Following receiving their certificate from Karol & Setha, in early 2013 our Life Skills students have been doing career training. This provides them with information about different jobs in different business sectors and how they can apply for those jobs. Furthermore, they have been learning about how they can look for job announcements; how to write a CV and cover letter; they’ve been on field visits to hotels, vocational training centers, restaurants, banks and other businesses; as well as practicing how to apply for a job and participate in the interview practice. This gives them a chance to consider their future career and prepare themselves to fulfill their aspirations. Life Skills student, Lai Lang told us about her experiences in career training: “I think that the lesson about writing a CV and Cover Letter was important for me and all students who attend the life skill program. It is important for job seeking and it made me understand clearly how to write a CV; I know what information I should include, how to write a cover letter and how to integrate information needed. I also know how to apply for a job, as well as what an interview is”. “Another life skill student, Lai Len, stated his feelings after he visited the hotel in Siem Reap. “I was very happy and interested in visiting Soria Moria hotel. It is the first time for me to visit a hotel; furthermore it was beneficial and important for me and my team to know what happens in a hotel, and what kind of jobs and responsibilities are needed in each department. I saw different departments, what kind of rooms and the prices for selling to the guests in the hotel. Finally, thanks to Salariin Kampuchea and supporters that kindly offered us this chance and thanks to Soria Moria team who allowed us to visit their hotel”. In the next three months, we would like to conduct application practice, interview practice, and visit other hotels or businesses as well as give a final test to our current Life Skills students. We are very proud to have provided this program, and we would like to thank all donors who supported us through GlobalGiving. With the help of our partners at GlobalGiving, and you, we hope to keep building on this and moving forward with our personal and career training programme. Warm regards, The Salariin Kampuchea Team
