Dear Friends,
In our last report, we invited anyone interested in becoming personally involved with our project to apply for a volunteer scholarship. We are excited to share with you the latest edition to our team dedicated to helping children in need: Leah Davidson!
Born in China and raised in Quebec, Canada, Leah is currently in her first year at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. She is passionate about social entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, and microfinance. At Wharton, Leah is part of the Intercultural Leadership Program and the Compass Fellowship Program, the latter of which provides students with training and mentoring to launch their own social ventures.
From June to August, Leah will volunteer with Expand's CASA project, while teaching teenage girls leadership skills through small micro-enterprise projects. These girls have amazing potential and ambition to create change in their communities. Leah is looking forward to working with the youth in Peru, immersing herself in a new culture, and using her business background to make a difference. And, of course, we are excited to have her on our team!
In the coming months, we look forward to sharing with you all the creativity of Peru's youth. You can follow their stories and progress, as well as Leah's experience in Peru, through our blog: http://mejorc.wordpress.com/
Thank you for your ongoing support!
Nadia
