Summary
Provides equipment for annual Mobile Medical Clinics (aka "Camps") to deliver critical health care to 14,000 remote mountainous villagers in rural Nepal and Peru, from 2008 - 2012.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Mountain Fund's Mobile Medical Camps will bring volunteer medical staff to villages in Nepal's Rasuwa district, and Peru's Urubamba district, where regular health care is not available. 250-300 patient visits will be conducted during each 10-day camp. The equipment funded by this project will be used in 10 mobile camps scheduled over the next 5 years.
How will this project solve this problem?
Each Mobile Medical Camp enables volunteer doctors, nurses, paramedics, optometrists & audiologists to address critical health needs, train local healthcare providers and provide preventive healthcare services in each village.
Potential Long Term Impact
Over 5 years the equipment funded by this project will allow us to conduct 2,000 - 2,500 patient visits. We will have a significant positive impact on the health and well-being of the communities we will serve.
Project Message
In rural communities where we have not yet established a health clinic, our Mobile Medical Camps will deliver critically important health care to those who simply have no other medical care available.
