The Kidney Centre Post Graduate Training Institute is not-for-profit Institute situated in the heart of Karachi, Pakistan. The medical treatment is very expensive in Pakistan as the Government spends only 4% of total GDP on health and there is no medical insurance system at all.
The Kidney Centre Post Graduate Training Institute caters to Nephrology and Urology patients. The treatment of renal element is almost out of reach of even rich people, for example the cost of Maintenance Haemodialysis is almost Rs.30,000/= (USD 500) per month and the average cost for renal stone surgery is more than Rs.20,000/=(USD 333) per surgery.
In the year 2006-07 almost 23806 patients were treated free of cost with the help of donations. The Kidney Centre is also actively involved in different educational activity and free medical camps to educate the community about renal diseases.
We have included some of these photos with this update and in our photo galleries. Also see attached a breakdown of the cost of treatment and numbers of patients we have provided services to at our facility.
It is only with the help and donations that The Kidney Centre has been able to treat the needy patients. Thank you for your generous donations.
