Dear friends, thank you for your outstanding support throughout all this time. Since launch of our project in December 2012, we were able to assist the children’s hematology and oncology departments at the Institute of Oncology in Chisinau with so much needed medical equipment and supplies. We are happy to announce that thanks to your donations we funded our project in full. We will continue assisting the Institute of Oncology in Chisinau as part of a larger project that we will be opening on GlobalGiving soon.
To recap our accomplishments, in two years of our operation, we upgraded children’s hematology and oncology departments with 2 infusion pumps and a monitor for vital signs measurement, as well as volumes of IV caterers, antibacterial filters and transfusion sets. We purchased drips, syringes, sterile dressings and other items. Our last purchase of medical supplies in August 2014 included:
- 200 Discofix C-3 stopcocks, a crucial part of infusion system;- 100 Sterifix infusion filters that hold bacteria and particles out;- 100 Infusomat space lines indispensable in safe infusion therapy.
The total amount of our August purchase was 12,023 Moldovan lei or about $823. Overall, we spent 161,892 Moldovan lei or about $11,089 throughout project's life, which includes our interim purchases made in 2013-14 years.
We thank you for being with us and supporting our project so generously. Without your assistance, the lives of 25 children who receive cancer treatment on a single day in Chisinau would have been very different. Please stay tuned as we will be opening a larger project to support all pediatric departments at Moldovan hospitals including the Institute of Oncology. We would like to see you as our continued dedicated donor for the new project, too.
Thank you so much once again!
Dear friends, we continue supporting children’s hematology and oncology departments in Chisinau, Moldovan capital, and bringing medical supplies that are crucial in departments' daily operations. Both departments use large volumes of drips, syringes and other items. Work may get seriously disrupted if these items are not restocked regularly. In our last report from March, we told you about our plans on supplies refill. In April 2014, we made this purchase in amount of 17,258 Moldovan lei (about $1,300), which was entirely funded by your donations.
Among the other items, we bought:
- Drips with special ports that let inject chemotherapy and anti-intoxication drugs simultaneously;- Filters mounted on the caterers that serve as an antibacterial barrier and filtration point in the infusions;- Mobile power boards and adaptors that let children walk and play with other children as opposite to spending all their time in wards.
At this time, about 25 children receiving treatment benefit from your assistance. Thank you for your ongoing support!
Dear friends, thank you for your continued support for children at hematology and oncology departments. Soon (likely, next month), we will be purchasing another set of medical equipment and supplies. Exact specification and quantity of medical supplies will be determined with the department’s staff. From the beginning of this year, you donated $700. This money will be used for purchase. March is a special month in Moldova. Traditionally known as the celebration of Martisor, this is the time when people are renewing hopes for healthy and prosperous life without pain and suffering. Our children patients at the hematology department took part in the celebration and made some drawings on occasion of a coming spring. Pictured here is the board at the children’s hematology displaying cheerful art. From all our children and our team at Save Life, we wish you a Happy Spring and thank you once again for your commitment and support!
Dear friends, the year 2013 has been a tremendous kick start year to our project. Thanks to your support, we were able to upgrade the children’s hematology department at the Institute of Oncology in Chisinau with so much needed medical equipment.
As we have previously communicated, in the first quarters of the year, we bought 2 infusion pumps (infusomats) and a V100 monitor. This equipment is indispensable - infusomats will let use medication in controlled and economic way, and monitor will control blood pressure and temperature pre- and post-surgery.
In addition, in August - October we bought:
1. Infusomat transfusion lines (323 units);2. Sterifix infusion filters (200 units);3. Vasofix intravenous catheters (200 units);4. Discofix systems for infusion therapy and monitoring (200 units);5. Perfusor syringes, sterile dressings and other accessories.
This equipment will let our doctors to continue performing an amazing work and help our little patients feel their hospital stay less stressful. Our heartfelt wish is to see these children healthy!
As we approach the end of the year, we want to express our sincere gratitude for your generosity and hope that you remain our supporters in the year 2014. We wish you bright and healthy holidays and a happy new year!
Dear friends, thanks to your support we continued assisting children’s departments at the Institute of Oncology in Chisinau. In July, we made another purchase of medical equipment and supplies in amount of 56,198 Moldovan lei (about $4,500). Among the other items, the department received the V100 monitor specifically designed for patients who require vital signs measurements. The monitor will be used to control children’s blood pressure, temperature and other vital signs before and after operations. This is a critical equipment as it helps make accurate and consistent measurements even in children with low or unstable perfusion pressures.
We thank you for your continuous support! Each item, medical device or even a smallest thing make huge impact on children and bring true difference in their lives.
