Sule integrated development organization is an NGO registered in 2003 by the ministry of internal affairs and since its inception it has been supporting the vulnerable groups such as widows and orphans in Tororo district. Due to the increasing difficulties that the widows and the elderly face, the organization is proposing to seek for funding for a low cost housing project in the district. This project will provide funds for nutritional support, home based care an put up low cost 15 units.
The status of widows, the elderly and disabled persons in Tororo has been a growing concern. .Tororo has a total population of 468.106 with a sex ratio of 94.9 %and population growth rate of 2.4% per annum .94% of this population live in rural areas .out of this population who are 65 years and above are 5.4% are the elderly with women being the majority. This population is associated with disability and serious ailments impacting mainly in their lives including living arrangements.
The widows and the elderly people of the community of Paya sub county will benefit from our project it will help them to get into modest accommodation about their plight of are living in grass thatched houses with poor sanitation .Each household will supplied with one plastic tank for collecting clean water in addition, each household will improve on their immune system by receiving food supplements such as milk eggs The will each receive treated mosquito nets
Improved quality of life for 30 households of widows the elderly and the vulnerable improved housing and sanitation facilities reduction in disease vulnerability by the elderly and improved immunity system
