Based on the funding received for the program during this quarter, Pathfinder was notable to recruit any new girls to the scholarship program; however, a four-monthscholarship extension was given for two girls whose scholarship accounts hadended. As Pathfinder believes that supporting girls throughout their educationis most important, we are pleased to be able to provide additional funding toscholarship recipients who would otherwise have to drop out of school at theend of their scholarship funding period. Scholarship extension support wasgiven to the following students: 1) Yalemwork Zewge and 2) Abebu Taffa.

Her father isvery old and works as a guard in a private home and her mother works as ahouse maid. Yalemwork has 4 siblings and life for her family is very difficult,as the income they get from their work is insufficient to properly feed theirbig family size and unable to support Yalemwork’s education. Yalemwork wasselected to receive a GlobalGiving scholarship in January 2010. At the time, she was in grade 10, and now with the GlobalGiving scholarship support, she hasreached grade 12. She was given scholarship extension to enable her to finish grade 12, which she will completein spring 2013. She is a promising student and is grateful for the opportunityto continue her education for more than two years through this scholarshipprogram.
