The SEED School of Washington, D.C. seeks to foster literacy growth by providig students with leveled books that they can and want to read as well as individualized literacy instruction and support.
Students, faculty and parents will benefit from students' improved literacy skills and the confidence they gain from growth. The SEED School needs leveled fiction and non-fiction texts that students can read for independent reading and that support curricular needs in the classroom. SEED also needs to provide training to teachers to ensure consistent literacy instruction throughout all subjects.
Develop a library collection of leveled fiction and non-fiction texts that reflect students' literacy skills upon entering SEED as well as their anticipated growth.
Students will attain the grade-level literacy skills they need to not only succeed in their middle school courses, but also to meet the demands of SEED's college preparatory high school, and ultimately, succeed in and graduate from college.
