This project supports street children, orphan and destitute in Goa. There are so many run away children from different states, migrate to Goa in search of better livelihood options. In bargain of doing so they end up as child laborers, rag pickers and juvenile in conflict with Law. Children's home provides them an environment with all the basic necessities required for their healthy growth. El Shaddai has 6 homes, supporting 300, girls and boys, in age group of 2-17 years. What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Goa being tourist destination, there are many poor families from poor states of India migrate here in order to find better living conditions. There are many runaway children end up as child laborers, beggars or rag pickers near the beach sites, market places etc. The poor families end up staying in slum, parents find daily wages labour job while their children roam aimlessly at the construction site or on the road. These both the group of children face various kinds of child abuse & malnutrition
How will this project solve this problem?
El Shaddai homes takes these children into its care and provide them with healthy environment to grow up. It provides them Food, Clothing, Medical care, Counselling, Education and extra coaching. There are group of friendly staff, counselors who help them with various activities in the home. All children go to non formal educational school. This project helps these children to transform their lives and give them hope to be better human.
Potential Long Term Impact
These children are malnourished, without proper clothes on them and psychologically disturbed. El Shaddai helps them to get back to their proper childhood, education and better life. It gives them chance to dream again and have hope for future. El Shaddai has six homes,helping 300 children; fifty children under each home.
