What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Orphaned and other vulnerable children who are left at home under bad conditions and under the care of young siblings or guardians who fail to take care of them, caused by lack of knowledge. These children suffer from starvation originated by financial difficulties, which causes serious physical, emotional, social and intellectual development that is needed for the growth of a child.
How will this project solve this problem?
The project will offer early childhood education through the operation of Day Care Centres which will provide a safe and secure learning envirnment for under 5 children. The children will also be supported with one nutritious meal at the centre. The project will also involve parents and guardians who will be taught on child development, HIV/AIDS issues, parenting skills as well as health issues. The guardians will be trained in basic business management and supportedwith funds to start projects.
Potential Long Term Impact
The project will support children in 100 day care centres allowing them to weave together in all elements of life as they experience it through play as well as their nutrition. The centres will be community owned and driven by the communities. The creation of income generating projects will be sustainable and communities will be weaned fro donor support. The project will be community owned.
