"We're all going to die. Some one with cancer. But not every cancer diagnosis is a death sentence: 50% of patients are cured today, the rest try to live as long as possible. It's hard not to think about death, but in Fundación Sales we give support to sick and healthy, as rarely a happy person develops cancer. Many experiences show that patients of a "selfcare groups” that we manage improves quality of life.” Susana Blum

Update from Argentina
By Arturo Prins | Project leader
During 2007, ‘Fundación Sales’ used donors’ contributions for its antitumor vaccination program, thus providing 15 researchers with financial funds for them to attend seminars and congresses. These contributions were also used to purchase lab equipment for patient vaccinations, drugs and disposable material.
This was the first stage of the program. We are now about to enter in Phase III, in which we will implement the use of a vaccine against melanoma. The development of cancer vaccines is proceeding at the laboratory and clinical levels. It is undergoing a Phase I clinical trial with 20 patients. A Phase III on 108 patients is set to begin.
The Ministry of Science and Technology of Argentina selected our Antitumor Vaccine Program to receive a subsidy from the Interamerican Development Bank of US$1,000,000. They will supply matching funds of 3 dollars for every dollar donated by citizens.

Support from the Inter American Development Bank
By Arthuro Prins | Project Leader
The Inter-American Development Bank (I.A.D.B.) granted a subsidy to our Project of anti-tumour vaccine, of up to US$ 1.000.000 for next the three years. The subsidy demands a counterpart contribution, that the SALES Foundation will pay with the donations that receives from thousands of citizens: thus, more donations will produce more money from the I.A.D.B., in such a way that by each donated dollar the I.A.D.B. grants us three.
