We hope this report finds you well! It's been a great school year filled with learning and fun for our kids. They've been exploring our creativity through our art projects, dance classes, and of course our drums!
As the school year comes to a close, the kids are getting excited about joining Camp Imani for the summer! Thanks to your support, we have been able to plan great activities and trips for over 120 kids.
We are very close to achieving our overall goal of raising $10,000 to support Camp Imani. Your continued support allows us to maintain events like our talent show and fund wonderful camp activities. Imani House looks forward to bringing our kids into summer with educational projects, explorative adventures and lots of support!
We can't wait to update you about camp progess in our next report. Thank you all for your continued kindness and support!
It's been a long winter here in NYC, but with warmer temperatures on the horizon, our thoughts are not only on Spring but also on Summer! We know our students are eager to get out of school and get into Camp Imani, but they certainly are enjoying our After School program.
Your donations recently allowed us to acquire new African drums & Steel Pans for our students to use. As you can see from the pictures, the students certainly had fun experimenting with them!
As the school year winds down, Imani House will continue to provide engaging activities, educational support, and lots of fun through our summer camp. Your donation makes this year-round support of our children possible. We truly couldn't do this without any of you!
We look forward to sharing news of our summer camp and warmer weather with you in our next report!
Thank you for your continued support,
Happy New Year Everyone!
We hope that 2014 is off to a great start for you all. We just wanted to share some recent highlights within the Imani House After School Program.
Last month, Imani House’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Club - which introduces our students to a variety of investigative sciences & hands on experiments, welcomed Dr. Folami Ideraabdullah, a genetic scientist from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Dr. Ideraabdullah answered questions from the students about her daily activities as a scientist and also provided an exciting excersisefor the children to participate in. With a few simple items, Dr. Ideraabdullah lead the students through the different steps of scientific method with an experiment that extracted DNA from peas.
The students were awed by the experiment’s success and Imani House is grateful to have exposed the children to activity like this.
We look forward to sharing more of our successes with you soon!
Summer has officially ended and Imani House continues to provide engaging activities, educational support and lots of fun through our After School Program. We wanted to share with you all more information about the way your donation continues to serve our kids.
Over 145 students, many of whom attended Camp Imani, will access our exciting program offers such as Fencing, Dance and Creative Writing, throughout the school year.
We recently went to a farm in New Jersey, where the children were able to pick apples, pumpkins, make new animal friends and have a great time outdoors.
This Fall also marks the return of Steel Pan to our Afterschool, thanks to the generosity of your donation, which has already been a great success!
We look forward to sharing more Fall program features with you all in our next update.
Warmest Wishes & Many Thanks
Hello Friends of Camp Imani;
Your donations are still at work. Imagine 7 weeks of free camp for 120 inner-city kids. The Campers love it, and the parents cannot stop saying thanks. As Camp Imani comes to a close on Friday, 8/23 we will have letters from the kids themselves thanking all of you.
For the very first time we were also able to offer the kids Archery - an ancient sport rarely available to children in our community. It was a really big hit, helping them develop focus, skill, precision, cooperation and discipline.
One Camper Mikalah has showed excellent aptitude for the sport, hitting the bullseye repeatedly and impressing Coach Brown, our Archery instructor, and the other Campers and Staff.
We look forward to sharing progress as Camp continues. Please, feel free to tell your friends and family about us, and show them the significant impact your donation had on our camp and campers this summer.
