The Haven provides, completely free of charge, a wide range of therapies which help people to deal with the physical and emotional side effects of breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the most common type of non-skin cancer in the world. In the UK, a woman's lifetime risk of developing breast cancer has risen from 1 in 9 to 1 in 8. That's around 130 women diagnosed every day, with nearly 12,000 women dying of breast cancer every year. Cancer treatment is often stressful and debilitating. Our project will help breast cancer patients - and their families - achieve the best possible quality of life, not only during their treatment but long into the future.
The Haven provides, completely free of charge, a wide range of therapies which help people to deal with the physical and emotional side effects of breast cancer - and over 90% of our Visitors feel that our support was essential to their recovery.
We will provide 100 new breast cancer patients with the support, information and skills to maximise self-management of their illness, rebuild their well-being, and transform their quality of life. We will also give their families support and advice.
"In the confusing world of cancer, The Haven has provided me with invaluable information, comfort and support. All the staff are wonderfully warm and very professional. It's just an oasis of calm."
- Sara El' Hassani, a Visitor to our Haven in Leeds
