Summary
This project will provide 150 Afghan children with a safe school and quality pre school education. This new school will enhance the economy by enabling parents in the neighborhood to work.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Bpeace aims to address the poverty and ongoing violence in Afghanistan. Results of research conducted in Habiba’s neighborhood on the outskirts of Kabul showed an unmet demand for a safe and educational environment for preschool aged children. In addition to a safe learning environment for 150 children, the school also provides jobs in the community, and promotes economic prosperity to the immediate and extended families of the children who attend by allowing parents to work.
How will this project solve this problem?
When Habiba opens her school, she will create jobs, provide a safe place for preschool children to learn, play and flourish, and give parents the opportunity to work, strengthen the local economy, and ultimately promote prosperity, leading to peace.
Potential Long Term Impact
The school will serve 150 preschool children per year, giving them the chance to learn and flourish and giving parents the opportunity to work and prosper. Increased access to education and economic prosperity will lead to a more peaceful community.
Project Message
"Habiba creates a haven in a country that still sees children playing in gutters, because there is no where else, and at the same time she promotes early learning to fight the 80% illiteracy rate.”
