We sincerely thank you for your kindhearted support to our project for Multi disabled children.
The support from Global Giving has been a great help for multiple disabled children. We are happy to state that, Divine Light Trust for the Blind has fortunate to receive $4,429.00
Programme for multiple disabled children.
From April to till date we have conducted survey in 40 villages in different parts of the state. During our survey we have come across 110 children with various disabilities (like Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired and children with additional disabilities). The children only with hearing loss has been referred to different schools for Speech therapy.
This project is on going. This year we have admitted 12 new children those who are Blind with mental Retardation or Hearing loss. We could not accommodate for all the children due to lack of financial support. The background of these children are socially, economically backward and they are severely disabled due to malnutrition. These children do not have basic training & they are neglected by their parents. Hence we are providing nutritious food & suitable accommodation and appropriate training. We are happy to state that Two of our Multi disabled children have
rehabilitated in the community along with parents. One child has been integrated for higher studies.
Success story of Ms.LATHA MANI
Ms.Latha Mani is the best example, she is mentally retarded with speech problem, come from very poor family neglected by her parents. She was trained 2 years in our institution in basic self care, functional and educational skills with Craft & tailoring. As a result today she could independently stand on her feet and lead a dignified life in the society along with her parents.
