Summary
150 widowed families will be offered with a free package of 100 seed chicks each. This development scheme shall start up with 15000 chicks to cover house holds in 6 parishes of Butenga Sub County.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
This program aims at changing the lives of the most needy Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC) house holds who are living under the conditions of un acceptable poverty and malnutrition. BOCADO has identified number of HIV/AIDS affected families which are vulnerable to the basic needs. This has put children at high risk of being forced into early marriage, sex workers, diseases, and Child labour. This project will improve the quality life to over 1,000 orphans who reside in Bukomansimbi County.
How will this project solve this problem?
Farmers will be trained in basic poultry farming skills, nutrition and project management.
Each farmer shall construct a poultry unit in accordance to the recommendations of the veterinary department. BOCADO will do the project monitoring
Potential Long Term Impact
Neighboring farmers will learn new methods of farming and project management. Interaction and unity among the beneficiaries will attract more crucial developments. Women will become stronger advocates of their human rights with in their communities.

As a volunteer in BOCADO, I desired to improve the HIV/AIDS affected families. I encourage vulnerable groups, live a positive way. Through this project, extreme poverty and malnutrition will reduce.
