Summary
This project which is based on humanism, is to offer a concrete hand to the difficult situation of grandmothers caring for grandchildren orphaned to HIV/AIDS - Education,Medical care,Clothing,Feeding.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
In the many communities around Jinja area are many households run by a single grandparent with 6,7,8 or more grandchildren. The grandparents are overtaxed by generating income and taking care of children specifically those infected with HIV. Children drop out of school because they cannot afford to pay the school uniform and other fees. Even to produce food for their own subsistence is difficult and often not sufficient for the daily meals of the family.
How will this project solve this problem?
The project will support the grandmothers with children's education, provide clothing, beddings, help grandmothers to start an income generating activity and help with household food security.
Potential Long Term Impact
The project will oversee 120 grandmothers to be in position to provide sustainable childcare
Project Message
"Our senior rural citizens who barely live without income cannot meet the cost of long and unusual burdens. They are hampered by a diminishing ability to work, any support to them is valuable."
