NEF provides supplemental nutrition to malnourished children in the West Bank and provides Palestinian women with employment opportunities in partnership with the World Food Program.
Over 50% of all Palestinians living in the West Bank live below the poverty line at $2 a day. Years of conflict and poverty have taken a toll on the health of Palestinian children, many of whom suffer from malnutrition. Since 2005, NEF continues to provide supplemental nutrition for Palestinian schoolchildren while at the same time stimulating the local economy by employing women to make snacks for kindergarteners.
NEF employs 1,250 women to produce the enriched snacks that NEF distributes to 16,000 kindergarteners in the West Bank.
This project enables crucial opportunities for women's empowerment through employment and business development. At the same time, the provision of nutritional supplements improves the overall health of needy children and their access to education.
