SUPERATEC is now bigger, stronger and wider!! And we expect to keep in the good track.
We already celebrate our first year with the support of Global Giving and so far you have witnessed our hard work reaching new communities in Venezuela. In this year we have inaugurated two new centers, we developed new technological and civic education courses and we are striving for excellence by training agents of change in every community we can reach.
Since May we have attended over 800 participants in our eleven centers in the country and we offered 23 different courses. The school year 2012-2013 ended it with marvelous results. Over 3 thousand people were certificated in one or more of our courses.
This summer we accepted a new challenge working with elementary school kids. So we designed a very attractive program to keep them motivated to continue their learning even in the summer! We offered technological – ecological camps for kids. Our centers in Las Mayas (Capital District) and in El Consejo (Aragua State) were the brave people who carried on with this project and the results were simply amazing. Our little participants learnt how to create their own video games with Kodu, some funny (and safe) activities in the Internet and also learnt a lot about conservation. Yes! We love technology! But we are smart enough to take care of our Earth. We attended 24 boys and girls with this program. We would like to repeat it and spread it to all our centers in Venezuela.
A new school year is beginning, bearing new challenges. Thank you for your support in this journey and we invite you to join us in this New Year.
This year we have an incredible project which is helping us to reach others communities in Venezuela and we are working to open at least another 4 centers in 2013 and 2 more in 2014. Also we keep our work in all our centers, providing digital inclusion for underserved communities So we are working as hard as we can!
We are strengthening our relationship with the communities. We believe that an empowered community has a key to work on its own development. This is a great lesson for us; our success is based on our capacity to understand the real need of the communities.
Since May we have attended over 900 participants. They can choose among a diversity of courses including our Superatec Program, where youth can learn about technologies, job skills and civic education. Plus, any member of the community can learn a new technological skill with our short courses. The Superatec’s Job Bank is monitoring the next step of our participants and helping them to make their way through the job market.
In our centers we aim to improve the skills of our participants, in order to improve their quality of life as individuals, but also, we are developing social leaders and changemakers who can create a new reality in their communities.
This has been a wonderful year so far and we are working for making it even greater. Since January we have attended over 600 people in our digital inclusion center in Venezuela. They participated in at least one of our 13 offered short-courses like basic computer and effective communications. These courses are offered in all our centers in Capital District, Aragua, Miranda and Vargas states.
Plus, 200 youth have been certificated in our SUPERATEC Program within the three options we offer: Graphics Tools, Technical Support and Administrative Initiation. Every participant is being trained in technologies, job skills and our human values education in all of the offered options. Our Job Bank is monitoring the participants in their path after SUPERATEC: if they want move forward to further education, or start the search for a job placement.
We are aiming to attend new communities all over Venezuela and we are working hard to make it happen. We believe the access to new technologies can make a difference in the opportunities of people from low income communities and also we have witnessed how much people can improve their lives with new knowledge.
Last February we inaugurated a new center in Aragua State in El Consejo. This new digital inclusion center is created in alliance with the Venezuelan-Swiss Institute. They are currently offering the basic course in computer with 28 participants.
We would like to thank you for all your support in our work. Together we are making a great change in Venezuela.
Thanks a lot!
And we are growing up!
We are still celebrating our tenth anniversary and we announce with a great pleasure that in 2012 we had over 2,500 beneficiaries in several states: Miranda, Aragua, Vargas and Capital District. Every participant is being trained in technologies, job skills and our human values education. Our Job Bank is monitoring over 3,000 participants in their path after SUPERATEC: if they want move forward to further education, or start the search for a job placement.
So far 2013 started with great energy. Only in January we have attended more than 500 people in our courses and over a hundred are enlisted in our Job Bank database. Also, SUPERATEC has a new institutional video (available only in Spanish) with our staff and students.
We are aware technology is incredible important nowadays, especially for the competitive job market, but at the same time we believe human values are the main key in life, and this is why our programs emphasizes the human development knowledge.
We would like to thank all the support we have received worldwide, introducing our new SUPERATEC-CDI center in Las Mayas, Caracas. So far, this center has attended over 180 people from the near communities. In this 2013 we have planned the opening for 5 new centers during the year, all over Venezuela.
We are celebrating our tenth anniversary giving others the opportunity of improve their quality of life. We have been doing that through alternative education in technologies, human values, education, and job skills.
Since 2002, more than 13,000 people have been benefited in our Training Centers throughout Venezuela, of which 55% are youngsters. The Job Bank has placed more than 2500 of our participants in their first job in the formal market, with the collaboration of more than 110 hiring companies; thus enforcing a sense of commitment in their Social Enterprise role by assuring these youngsters personal development. Also, more than 1500 participants continue their studies, according to our follow-up statistics.
SUPERATEC`s impacts are to:
SUPERATEC’s qualitative goals are to influence students’ self-esteem, which will enhance their potential and impact; motivate students to assume an active role in their community to identify means of improving living conditions; and involve youth and the broader community in computer learning through the establishment of additional Training Centers.
So far in 2012, 1,365 people have been benefited with our courses in all our centers. We also have inaugurated two new Superatec centers in the states of Vargas and Miranda, and another center which is preparing for the opening in Capital District. These centers represent a new challenge for us and we are excited for attending communities that we couldn’t reach before.
