Project Personnel

Abraham Awolich - Co-Director

Abraham Awolich is Southern Sudanese and was a refugee in East Africa for 14 years. In February 2006 he had the opportunity to travel home to Sudan for the first time in 17 years and was re-united with his family. Seeing the devastation, Abraham realized that education development is the key to a lasting peace in Sudan.

Atem Deng - Co-Founder

Atem arrived in Vermont in 2001 after fourteen years of living in refugee camps in Ethiopia and Kenya. In May of 2005 he worked in Sudanese refugee camps in Northern Uganda. He pledged to the refugees living in the camps that he would bring the gift of education back to his people in Sudan.
