Abraham Awolich - Co-Director
Abraham Awolich is Southern Sudanese and was a refugee in East Africa for 14 years. In February 2006 he had the opportunity to travel home to Sudan for the first time in 17 years and was re-united with his family. Seeing the devastation, Abraham realized that education development is the key to a lasting peace in Sudan.
Atem Deng - Co-Founder
Atem arrived in Vermont in 2001 after fourteen years of living in refugee camps in Ethiopia and Kenya. In May of 2005 he worked in Sudanese refugee camps in Northern Uganda. It was on this trip that he was reunited with his family for the first time in 16 years. He pledged to the refugees living in the camps that he would bring the gift of education back to his people in Sudan.
Robert Lair - Co-Director
Robert Lair is Co-Director of NESEI and has traveled widely in Uganda and Sudan, working extensively in the Sudanese refugee camps in Northern Uganda. He has traveled to 42 countries around the world and has led international development immersions for university students in Asia and Africa.
