Summary
We are organizing an international multicultural outdoor festival for the local youth in Kumanovo, Macedonia that will gather performers from the Macedonian and Albanian communities.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The project is being organized in the framework of the Post-Conflict peace building actions in the region of Kumanovo. The project will bring the local Macedonian Albanian and Serbian youth together on the main square in Kumanovo for an international and intercultural music experience. By bringing together the most popular bands from the Balkans in one common space, aiming to promote peace and tolerance is the right message from the youth in the post-conflict society.
How will this project solve this problem?
The planned activities apart of the 2 day festival are an international youth exchange and volunteer camp, fair of youth organizations and groups, debates and presentations on issues such as alcoholism and safe sex, and a school for street animators
Potential Long Term Impact
The projects long term impact is to contribute to the peace building efforts in the region by bringing different cultures together in non formal way promoting cultural exchange, peace and reconciliation. We use music as universally understandable too
Project Message
For the first and only time until now, Macedonians and Albanians were together on the square, danced together, joked together and had fun together. No politics and no hatred. Music brough us together
