Exciting New Partnerships

A Living Poem of Learning
A Living Poem of Learning

Partnering with like-minded organizations to strengthen our communities

Story Tapestries is now an official partner of America's Promise Alliance.  This means we have been recognized as a key National Organization that is committed to improving communities for our youth, and we have access to tools and resources to help us share our work with more communities across the country.  Under the leadership of Founding Chairman General Colin Powell and current Chair Alma Powell, the America’s Promise Alliance has become the nation’s largest partnership dedicated to improving the lives of young people.  America's Promise Alliance includes partners who share a belief that children and youth are a national priority and are committed to collaboration to reach more young people with the resources they need to succeed.  The work of the Alliance focuses on these 5 promises: Caring Adults, Safe Places, A Healthy Start, Effective Education, and Opportunities to Help Others.  We are proud to be recognized as a Partner within this important network.

THANK YOU for your assistance.
This Summer because of your donations we were able to offer support to a number of key programs all free and open to the public!  We were a part of the Summer Reading Program and covered the cost for........
Arianna Ross, the executive director of Story Tapestries, to be one of the director's of the following program for DC youth:
Pulled Apart: A Play Created by Arena Stage´s Voices of Now Metro TeenAIDS Ensemble
Venue: Youth Pavillion in the Global Village
at the DC Convention Center as a part of the International Aids Conference

Time: July 23, 2012, 5:00 - 5:30 PM
Facilitators: Ashley Forman, Joshua DeMinter, Arianna Ross & Mitch Mattson
Actors: Terra “Tempest” Moore, Davina “Bubbles” Smith, Laneisha McCauley, KyLend J. Adams, Ashley Hughes & Jamir Nelson, United States

Pulled Apart was a play that was written and performed by young artists who have shared their stories and made their voices heard.  Through monologue, dialogue, poetry, movement and music, the ensemble has explored the stress, pain and fears of living with sickness and death related to HIV and AIDS. This play reflects the real-life stories of DC youth dealing with stigma and exclusion. The performance will be followed by a dialogue with the artists and directors.

Spread the word:  Forward this project report to your friends and family.  Remind them that a donation from them will help to end generations of illiterate families.
