Summary
This project aims at the introduction of computer operation and information technology in three schools for the blind disabled. This group of people have been left out of the digital world. They concentrate on their studies along and have not been introduced Information Technology as a modern tool for development. The National Youth Development Organization seeks to introduce it in their curricular. We have seen great people e.g. The famous Pastor Nick. What about others????
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The minority disabled group have been left out of modern technology. Given their condition, they have never been considered when ICT/IT activities are organized. The National Youth Development Organization visited three schools for the disabled and found out that most of them dont even know what a computer is talk less of know how it works or what it is used for. NYDO anticipates introducing computer education to these disabled young people.
How will this project solve this problem?
15 computers will be bought and installed in the 3 schools. students will be taught on how to operate a computer. This will equally help them in the future as the pursue their career of seek for employment. It will facilitate research and communication/correspondence.
Potential Long Term Impact
This is an empowerment project because knowledge acquired will remain with them forever and they will be able to pass on other achievements got from the use of IT/computer operation. It will also bring lasting development within the students community.
Project Message
