Great results

The trophies won after our inter school exams
The trophies won after our inter school exams

As we approach to the end of our second semester we are happy to report that we have experienced a big difference in the academic performance. We had our interschool exams last month and Tumaini School was in the first position out of 124 schools. The champion teacher also was from Tumaini School and this was a great achievement. Your donations not only cater for education but takes care of other young children who are coming up. This allows them to have good environment and nutrition as they grow.

As we are preparing our new candidates who will be sitting for their national exams in November, we are anticipating another great achievement as our children are doing very well. The competition between them is very healthy and this is giving them an  opportunity to compete other pupils in other schools.

The children participated in music festivals for this year and were able to go up to the district level. This motivates them so much as they get to meet other children from different schools. All these has been achieved at Tumaini not because we can make it but because of all our donors. Without you our children would not have gone this far due to many obstacles as education is concerned. You have brought happiness in the lives of these children and light in the entire community.

Our children feel blessed to have you in their lives, their lives have become just like other children’s lives and even better. You have enabled us to keep our teachers and they are motivated to work hard. They are committed and are working hard towards good performance for the children and the school.

It is now two years since Tumaini School became a centre for the national exams and every year we have candidates graduating and joining high school. It is in this regard that I am requesting you to continue sharing about Tumaini with friends, families, clubs and others. This will enable us to expand our donor family our children will be able to join high school as there will be school fees.

We love you and thank you for working alongside Tumaini family.

back to school, second semester!

It has been four weeks since we closed school for holidays. We had our end term exams and our candidates did very well. We had two inter schools examinations and we were position 4 out of 124 schools. Currently we have 24 candidates and we are expecting great results after their final exams in November. They are already doing great in their interschool examinations. They are back to school with a focus to study and do better during this term.

Last term we had football, volleyball and netball competitions and some of our children were selected to proceed to the subcounty level. We hav the best girl goal keeper and she is now the overall goal keeper for the school in our sub county. This term we are having athletics and we are starting in the month of June. Our children have started practicing and we hope they will be the best during the competitions.

We are grateful for all the opportunities our children are geting both academically and in extra curriculum activities. The chance to stay in school, learn and participate in several activities has been achieved only becasue of your recurring donations towards their education.

Faustine is now leaving for high school!
Faustine is now leaving for high school!

I take this opportunity to thank you all for working with us throughout the year 2013. We are grateful as you have walked with us on this hourney and we are seeing the fruits of your commitment to the lives that are in our care. Our children are very happy to be in school and their performances are an indication. All our children who did their national exams in November last year passed their exams. We are position one out of 27 schools in the Division and position seven out of 123 schools in the District. We have already received letters of admission in high school for our children,  some have joined and we are preparing others to join by the end of this month. We are very happy and encouraged as our children have received letters from very good high schools and this gives us hope for better results after four years of high school.

We now have 68 children in the children home, 3 babies, 50 are in primary school and 15 have joined high schol. We are also grateful as these children are happy and they have turned out as best in school. You have helped us come up with a beautiful and conducive environment for them and they feel they have a wonderful home.

We could not have achieved this if it were not for your support that has enabled us to make these children stay in school and be like other children. Our children are fed at school, they have books, they have a good learning environment and we have committed teachers to teach them. All has been implemented by you, your support, commitment and sacrifice has made these children come this far. We are only doing the work on the ground but you are  doing everything to make a difference in these children's lives and in the entire community.

High school is a determining factor for a better future for these children. This will open the other doors for university or other colleges and we find it to be the most improtant task to be accomplished. As we are striving to make a difference in these lives, without high school education then we will be striving for nothing. It is only the high school that will give these children a step forward to their brighter future and we will be proud of our striving. It is in this regard that we are kindly requesting you to continue spreading the word about Tumaini to expand our support family.  This will enable us pay the high school fees for our children and make them remain in school as they have been during their primary education at Tumaini school. Encourage friends to spread the work of Tumaini to their friends and families, churches and groups so that we can make this happen. Our High school fund has to grow so that our children can remain in school. This year has been a challenge because we didnt fundraise for the high school fund. High school fees is very high and that is why we have the high school fund to help us pay all the fees required.

We are very grateful and we have no words to express our joy when we see how far we have come with the lives in our hands. We really appreciate and it is our prayer that you will be blessed abundantly. We are proud of you!

Put a smile on a child's face over this christmas

Cheryl on her first day at Tumaini children
Cheryl on her first day at Tumaini children's home

This year was a good especially in our academics. We have inter schools exams with all the classes, grade one to 8. Our grade pupils have just graduated and are waiting for their results which will be out on the 28th December. Grade 5 and 6 were the best in the District and we were leading in mathematics and english. Our children have shown hard work this year and this is very encouraging.

As we all know knowledge is power! We are grateful for the knowledge you are giving to these children, there is no other way that their lives would have changed apart from giving them education. We believe they are recieving the knowledge that is changing their lives and they will never be the same. The communities they come from will never be the same, we will have knowledgeable peole with different professions. This is being achieved because of you, our donors! There is nothing that could have brought the change we are seeing in these lives other than your commitment, sacrifice and support. You have become a light in our children's lives and you have left a mark that will never be forgotten. We are very grateful for walking alongside us and enabling us to help the needy. They know you by name and this will remain in their hearts forever.

It is another time that Christmas is here with us! In our communities many children are always happy when Christmas comes their way and the only way to accomplish this for them is to buy a new dress and a good meal.   Are you sponsoring a child? Put a little smile on your child's face, let this christmas be special in her/his life. If you are not sponsoring a child share a meal with a child in our community this christmas! Help us give these children a smile on their faces on this special day.

Share with friends about this and lets come together and share Christmas celebration with the needy. Thank you once again for standing with us in the gap of the needy. You are special in the lives of these children.

Restoring hope through sponsorship- Featuring Joshua

Joshua's arrival in the children's home

Kakamega county poverty level is 57% compared to national level which is at 46%. This has denied many children an opportunity to go to school, as they have to go as far as working in the farms    for them to be able to eat. This has left the youth vulnerable which leads to early pregnancies in girls and hopelessness.

Joshua joined Tumaini family in the year 2010 15th January, when he was just two(2) days old. He was abandoned near on the  river bunk in the evening and was rescued by some old ladies who were going for a funeral in the village. Joshua was then taken to the police station and we were called upon to take him in. We requested them to send them over with the report and the lady who found him brought him to the centre with the police's report. It was sad to see the cute baby wrapped in dirty rags, wet and smelly. Joshua was different within one hour, after bath he was a cute boy.

Joshua is now 3 and half years, healthy and going to school. This has not happened because Tumaini was there to take in Joshua, it has happened because you our donors. You have made a big difference in this life, there is future and hope on his face just because of your sacrifice and committment.

Lets continue expanding our family, share with friends and pass on a word of mouth, as we expand our family we continue to change more lives. We are grateful and know that your support is very much appreciated, not only with TMSC management but with the children and the entire community who are the beneficiaries.
