Summary

There are increasing number of children with disabilities who are not receiving the appropriate developmental aids they need due to financial hardship. Mobility India develops these aids which help a child to achieve its developmental milestones like sitting, standing and walking. These aids like corner seat, special chair, standing frame, peg board provide support and also allows the child to have enough freedom to move and explore.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Many children with cerebral palsy and their delayed developmental milestones- they completely depend on their parents and care givers for their daily living activities. Less rehab centres in Bangalore is involved in fabrication of developmental aids- so huge demand and delayed in getting the aids which also develops further deformities. Once the child is given a developmental aids it can be used for 6 months or one year, if the child grows then we have to provide the new one.

How will this project solve this problem?

Children with disabilities especially who have delayed developmental milestones would be provided with appropriate developmental aids using the aid the child eventually acquires maximum abilities in the daily living leading to physical, social and psychological development. Mobility India have done a research and come out with re-adjustable developmental aids -which would help the child to use the same standing or sitting frames for two to three years with slight adjustment in the aids.

Potential Long Term Impact

Children with cerebral palsy will get access to appropriate developmental aids which will help them to achieve development milestones. It also gives children enough freedom to move and explore which leads them to physical, social and psychological development. Children will be less dependent on their parents and care givers.

Project Message

Re-adjustments of special chair were not possible- if child grows-they were not using the chair, it affects the posture/ milestones. Our project will help a child to use for more than 3 years.
