In Kenya specifically in slum areas, we have experienced cases of sexual gender based violence amongst young girls, children and women as a whole. most of these victims are neglected by the society and the government since they don't have the ability to face the public and report such cases instead they are traumatized, stigmatized and neglected by he society. we target children especially girls and few women since in most cases are women. we want to sensitize, educate and help the victims.
In Kenya, as many as one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex, or abused in some other way - most often by someone she knows, including by her husband or another male family member; one woman in four has been abused during pregnancy.Violence against women both violates and impairs or nullifies the enjoyment by women of their human rights and fundamental freedoms. In all societies, to a greater or lesser degree, women and girls are subjected to physical, sexual, and stigma abuse
This project aims at identifying the underlying causes of injustices in sexual and gender based violence in Kibera Slum; and bring to the attention of the Kenyan government i.e. the policy makers of the country and other partners i.e. the NGOs working in the country to take appropriate action. The project intends to fill the gaps made by other organizations so as to come up with absolute and accurate data so that these issues can be dealt with right. It is going to help the victims find justice
we will sensitize and create awareness of over 1000 children, women and girls to know their human rights and be in a better position to avoid gender based violence cases and also how they can prevent themselves. this will also help them to take any legal action to the perpetrators without fear. they will also be able to report such cases without fear of any one since it is their right to get security and free from harassment and sexual gender based violence. it will help victims to recover.
