I would like to share a few of the letters I have received from animal lovers in Romania. Thanks to all of you wonderful people, Romania Animal Rescue is able to provide these caring citizens with the free spay/neuter surgeries. Thank you all!! Here are thank yous, to YOU, the people who made these programs possible from our spay/neuter campaigns in Braila, Ploiesti, Nicoresti, and for Fiducia Shelter.
RAR was asked by Gabriela if we could please go to Braila as soon as possible to do spay/neuter there. The Mayor of Braila has said that only dogs that are sterilized will not be killed in that city. So we had to rush into action as quickly as possible. How did the people react to the Spay Day? This letter shows their excitement:
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all!!! It was very good. Dr. Stefan Aurelian was working very hard. Beginning at 7.30 in the morning, people were there with dogs.
I am very happy. The people were very happy. It was cold, yes, but we won't have puppies in the winter. It was wonderful!
Thank you, Nancy!Lisa Popescu
I wanted to give you an update about today's campaign. We picked up today 27 animals: 25 dogs and 2 pregnant cats. Today we visited several places in town, and ended up at a hoarder who had 30-40 dogs in her fairly small courtyard. We took a total of seven dogs from her too. This woman has the habit to kill the newborn puppies as a means to keep down the numbers in her yard... I have to tell you, I've never seen a real hoarder in real life, only on TV, so this courtyard will stay in my mind for a long time.
The dogs were super happy today to be returned in their territory. At the main hospital we returned 11 dogs, and some of the hospital staff and the dogs were happy to be reunited. It was so funny to see the dogs take a few seconds to figure out where they were, and then to spring happily in the air and jump on people and other dogs they knew, once they realized where they were.
As of now, we have 68 animals done in just these 3 days. 14 on day 1; 26 on day 2; 1 female dog brought directly to your clinic, and then the 27 from today.Thank you,Alex
UPDATE: By the end of the spay event, a total of 100 dogs were spayed/neutered in Ploiesti, thanks to your donations!
My husband and I love animals so much. At the beginning we had just some dogs and cats, our own animals. When our neighbors realized we feed and care for the wounds of the dogs and the cats we find on the streets, they started to abandon puppies of their dogs and cats near our house and they even throw them over the fence. We found blind, skinny, full of parasites, old dogs and cats and puppies. It was so hard for us to take care for all those animals. I was really desperate because they were so many and because we couldn't separate the female from the males they bred. With our dogs and cats, those we adopted from the streets, and those that people throw over the fence we reached 40 animals (24 dogs and 16 cats).
I wanted so hard to spay/neuter them, because I needed more and more food for them. I was so desperate! Fortunately one day I found on the Internet about The Association for Animal Protection "Tomita" from Tecuci and I called them. Somebody from this charity told me they have a free monthly spay/neuter program for animals, especially for dogs in Tecuci. Their program is supported by Romania Animal Rescue, a charity from America. I asked them for help and after some days they told me they will come to my home and spay/neuter all our animals. They were so kind to come to my house, because I wasn't able to come to the clinic with 40 animals for spay/neuter. I was so happy when I saw all my animals spayed and neutered. All of them recovered so well and so fast.
My husband and I want to thank Romania Animal Rescue and The Association for Animal Protection "Tomita". We are so grateful to all these wonderful people who work for the welfare of animals. I don't want to think about what we would have done without their help. It is so good when we see we are not by ourselves in this battle for saving lives. Thank you so much for what you are doing for animals!Silvia in Visina,a village near Nicoresti
Dear Mrs. Nancy Jones,
In the name of Mrs. Lidia Maier, the owner of Fiducia shelter, I would like to thank you very, very much in helping us in neutering our dogs. As Anda Mates held correspondence with you and arranged with you the castration of dogs I thought that she thanked you in my name too. I also asked the veterinarians who had done the neutering to let you know my thanks and gratitude.
Please send my thanks and gratitude to everybody who contributed to the realization of this precious project. Sincerely I have never thought that this will be possible at our shelter. This was one of the most important events in my work. Thanks to this action the reproduction of dogs has been stopped. The Town Hall keeps bringing almost daily new dogs, but these dogs are kept separately and we also neuter the newly brought in dogs.
We thank you that you are caring about us.
Happy Holidays to you! Nancy Janes, Romania Animal Rescue
