Dear Supporters and Friends,
Although the issue of abandoned dogs in Romania is well known, I would like to tell you about the situation that does not make its way into the media, abandoned kittens.
With the cost of spay/neuter being prohibitive for most Romanian citizens, they are regularly faced with the choice of whether to kill the offspring of their cats, or abandon them. With the population of dogs decreasing in Romania, there are more cats than ever seen living on the roads and public places. These kittens and cats are subject to disease, fighting, starvation.
Romania Animal Rescue gives people the means to stop this cycle....spay/neuter with highly skilled veterinary teams that travel throughout the country to provide help. Prevention is the key to end the suffering.
I would like to share this with you, sent from Anca in Craiova,
"Why RAR spaying and neutering campaigns are so important?Being involved in rescuing in Romania it is a hard task and all rescuers know how many things they sacrifice in order to help an enormous number of animals – and sometimes at the end of the day you might realize that you were not good enough to help enough animals. From my point of view, RAR ‘s involvement in what concerns spaying and neutering campaigns was a major step to a new era, to a better life for animals and to a better educated population when it comes to stray dogs and cats.It is overwhelming to know that people thousands of miles away are concerned and actively devoted to help Romania’s strays cause.Since RAR started to collaborate with different Romanian NGOs and private persons a big number of spaying and neutering places were used for dogs and cats which used to deliver annually unwanted pups or kittens. These sustained efforts of donating money, mobilizing teams of professional vets, implementing the idea that IT IS NORMAL TO spay your cat, your dog led to a lower number of animals on streets.I would like to thank all RAR donors and great people involved in this major project! Together we can change lives, we can stop the number of dogs or cats on streets, injured, hurt, thirsty, hungry, ill and so on. Attaching here also a few pictures of latest animals spayed / neutered with RAR ‘s help !With your support, we can continue to provide help so that there will be fewer abandoned or killed kittens. "
Thank you with all our hearts for your contribution to RAR's spay/neuter program for cats!
Dear Romania Animal Rescue Supporters,
I have the great news that RAR has now spayed/neutered over 26,000 animals in Romania! Our spayathons are reaching more cities, towns and villages than ever before! We are now able to go into remote areas to help animals that otherwise had no help whatsoever as there are no local vets.
Our programs are so well received that we have a list of animal lovers and charities that are awaiting our return, and we just finished more programs in Iasi, Adjud, Vatra Dornei, Suplac, Bistrita, Tecuci, Maoland, Moreni, Craiova and Bucharest. Thanks to your help and support, we are able to prevent thousands and thousands of kittens from ever being born to be abandoned.
One of our vets, Dr. Irina Corbu, contacted me last week to tell me that on her way back from the Bistrita Spayathon she was noticing cats on the roads. Cats dumped and abandoned as is usually the case with dogs in Romania. She was distraught and very upset. We need to reach out as much as possible to help more if we can possibly do this.
July 7 is our Veterinary Director, Dr. Aurelian Stefan's birthday. He has asked for the spay of 200 cats in the Homeless Animals Hospital in Craiova as his present. Can you help us reach this goal of 200 cat spays? Thusfar we have raised funds for 8 cat spays ($200). I hope you can join me in donating to the spay/neuter of 200 cats in Craiova! The cost per spay/neuter is $25.
Thank you very much wonderful supporters and friends!
Dear Romania Animal Rescue Supporters and Friends,
Thanks to your support, Romania Animal Rescue is able to help more cats with spay/neuter than ever before! Our program for cat sterilizations in Iasi has expanded, thanks to an outstanding donation for 120 free spays/neuters! And more cats than ever are being sterilized in Tecuci, Bistrita, Moreni, Bucharest, Bistrita, and Craiova!
These wonderful sweet souls need our help and we are there for them, thanks to donors like you!
Please see the latest photos from our campaigns. With your continued support we can work miracles....we already have!
Thank you and I wish you a wonderful Spring!
Romania Animal Rescue/Animal Spay Neuter International
The snow and freezing temperatures have set in for the country of Romania, and for the cats and kittens. Romania Animal Rescue is alleviating the birth of more cats and kittens that would eventually, possibly next year, have to endure these weather conditions on the streets.
In Iasi, Romania's second largest city, our ongoing free spay/neuter program for cats is the only one if its kind. The cats are brought in by their owners and / or protectors to be fixed and then they are taken home to recuperate. These animals will no longer give birth to potentially thousands of others, thanks to you!
In the city of Craiova, the Christmas is for Cats campaign provided the free spay/neuter for 100 cats in December. In Tecuci, Moreni, Suceava, cats were sterilized during our spayathon campaigns.
Romania Animal Rescue is now approaching 24,000 free spays/neuters for both cats and dogs in Romania. We hope to reach 25,000 in the not too distant future!
Neuter or Spay! No More Strays! No More Abandonment, Suffering, Disease or Starvation of Unwanted Animals.
Please help us to end the cycle of suffering with a donation, and thank you!
As the winter is closing in on Romania, the street cats and kittens have a pretty tough time of it. They are subject to freezing cold temperatures and very little if any food. The heartbreak of seeing them trying to survive through the season is unbearable to those who love them but cannot afford to help.
This is why we turn to you, our fabulous supporters, so that we can provide free spay/neuter to keep unwanted litters of kittens from being born into a cold and unforgiving environment.
This year Romania Animal Rescue is once again holding our "Christmas is for Cats" campaign in Craiova, Romania, for 50 cat spay/neuters. In Iasi, we would like to provide for 50-100 free spays as well, but we simply cannot afford to do this without help.
Can you help us to provide free spay/neuter for the Iasi cats? Iasi, Romania's second largest city, provides a free spay/neuter program for dogs, but not for cats. This is where RAR comes in, and where you, our wonderful generous donors, come in. Can you help us to spay more cats for Christmas in Iasi?
Thank you for any support for this project, we really appreciate it, and I wish you a wonderful season of hope for the animals.
