During January 549 dogs and 50 cats were sterilised.  Blue Cross of India also runs an excellent ambulance service for rescuing injured or abandoned animals and birds. During the month of January 368 dogs and 13 cats were rescued and treated for injuries or sickness. This could not have been possible without your support!

We share with you some of the pictures taken of our animal rescue. Humane techniques are used for catching these dogs by our animal handlers. The dogs were sterilised and after recovery were returned to their habitat. We checked on them and they were making excellent progress!

Thank you for your generousity. With more donations we can sterilise more cats and dogs. Please continue to support us.

Spay/Neuter dogs and cats in Chennai

Bandit under treatment
Bandit under treatment

Dear Donor,

The year 2012 has been a great year for the Blue Cross of India. We had reached our goal of raising $10,000 to spay and neuter street dogs and cats in Chennai. We are very grateful to each one of you for so generously donating for this noble cause. We have sterilized more than1000 dogs and cats and we plan to sterilize another 1000 animals in 2013. Everyday we read in the news that numerous dogs in the surrounding areas of Chennai are culled. To prevent this tragedy, we need to step up our efforts to sterilize dogs and cats.

We hope 2013 will usher in a better quality of life for the animals. We will relentlessly continue our efforts to sterilize the street dogs and cats and treat sick animals. We share with you the story of Bandit, the calico cat. She was rescued with both her hind legs broken. At present, she is undergoing treatment and we hope she will be able to walk again with prosthetic legs. Numerous sick and injured dogs and cats are treated at the Blue Cross and then sterilized before putting them back on the streets. Your donation helps us help these hapless animals.

We wish you a happy 2013. Thank you for making animals happy

Yours sincerely,

Sudhersena

Bindu is one of the thousands of stray cats that roam the streets of Chennai. Thanks to your kind donation she has been spayed and will return to her habitat soon. Every month, on an average, 60 cats and  1000 dogs are spayed or neutered at the Blue Cross of India Animal Shelter and Hospital.  More than 50 cats and 200 dogs are being treated every month for injuries, and sickness   Every healthy animal that is treated or sterilized is vaccinated before release. Your kind support has helped us to sterilize and rehabilitate more than 400 animals.

Mimo, with both front paws broken,  was rescued by Blue Cross. She is now recovering in the shelter. She will be operated soon and would be able to move around. She is one of the numerous cats that have been rescued by Blue Cross of India.Your continued support will help us reach out to more animals and  promote their well being. The story of Rosie and other cats

Rosie immediately after surgery
Rosie immediately after surgery

The past months have been particularly hectic at the Blue Cross Animal shelter. We had a steady flow of injured cats and dogs. Thanks to the wonderful work of vets, staff and volunteers these cats have been able to overcome their injuries and now are happy to be back on their feet. I would like in particular to share the story of brave Rosie. She came to the shelter with a serious abdominal hernia. Her pet parents left her there since they were unable to care for her at home. Our vets successfully operated on her and she recovered well. I  fostered her at home during this difficult time. She fought bravely to overcome  minor complications. Finally, she recovered completely and was reunited with her pet parents. Bibi was another cat whose foreleg had to be amputated. This was also done successfully. Slyvester is also one more cat whose foreleg had to be amputated. He is recuperating after surgery now and is recovering well.

Your kind donation has given these cats a new lease of life and has made them totally purrfect. Without your support none of these cats have a chance. Please continue supporting the animals of Blue Cross of India.and help them live.
