Kahinga Water Project

By a female, 31-45 years old, in Muhotetu, Kenya
Map of KAHINGA WATER PROJECT Kahinga water project was established in year 2000 aiming at developing a water spring in laria. The group realised the need to provide water to the people living around by cearing the bush around the spring, harvesting the water and taping it to supply to the people. Due to financial constraints the dreams of these members did not come true leaving the people around to suffer for this basic need(water). The spring is in an arid area where people esp: women an d children walk long distances searching for water. If developed the spring has a capacity to yield an average of 500-1000ld which is suffiecient to supply at least 50 house holds. I would like this project to be considered for funding to see the people in laria enjoy the basic need easily. Read more.

Curbing Unemployment Among The Youth

By a male, 22-30 years old, in Kakamega, Kenya
Map of curbing unemployment among the youth majority of youth have been idling around due to lack of employment opportunities. this has in a way made them to engage in vices like drug abuse, heavy drinking and probably theft activities. however the youth enterprise fund initiative under the prime ministers office has seen many youths transforming their lives. a significant example streams from my area where a certain group of about 20 members come together and obtain a loan from this fund. With the loan they started businesses which within a year had expanded even helping to repay the loan. they also used the proceeds to purchase a land which they have used to carry out farming. For now they are wealthy and this credit can be altered to the youth enterprise fund. Read more.

Map of Need for clean water We were visited that day by an organisation that worked with food & water security. That morning our home was clean before 10:00 AM. The guests had arrived. They introduced themselves and we did likewise. My parent was a small can that was used to purity water for domestic use and consumption. They explain how to use the can (life-straw), and also explained the need to drink clean water. After the session the guest left after taking details of their clients.
