Our children in March past for Sports competitions
We are happy to inform you that from 21st to 23rd Aug. we celebrated annual function in Snehalaya. More than 200 children participated in various sports and cultural competitions on 21st and 22nd Aug. respectively. On 23rd Aug. in the morning, flags of 18 countries were hoisted with singing of national anthems by our children and volunteers followed by tributes to Dr. Meena Sharma by placing flowers on the memorial. In the afternoon our new main stream school was inaugurated and souvenir for year 2011 was released. Children from Snehalaya presented dances, songs, drama etc. The programme was attended by nearly 500 people with children, their parents, volunteers, dignitaries and guests. Most of the children received prizes for winning respective competitions. It ended succesfully late in the evening after 7PM. We are much obliged for all the support by all of you without which it could not have been succesful and we might have not reached here. We hope for your continued support helping us take these works further.
This year has been a special one having achieved new mile stone for our ongoing work with start of this new main stream school in Snehalaya Campus. This school will be unique in India where children will be taught modern education in English medium as well as Indian culture, Vedic & Gurukul Education, making them able to compete in the modern world. This will provide education to nearly 500 children esp. girls from surrounding villages. The girls will be provided with every thing including books, uniforms, food, education, transportation and health care as well as Rs.10 per day for attending the school with vocational training. The aim is to make them independent, these girls remain illiterate and undergo oppression all their life otherwise. Here I will like to add that we have already been running a school for special needs in Snehalaya since its inception in Aug. 2006, providing education and training to the children with disabilities resident in Snehalaya as well as to those from local community.
I request you to help us as much as possible to educate these girls. $20 per month will help educate one girl in these villages, making her independent. We also need urgently a school bus for transporting these girls from villages every day costing Rs. nine laks ($20000). At present we have rented one but we will like to buy one for ourselves as soon as possible. Please help us in getting one at the earliest by contributing towards the same. Please consider and help generously by regular or one time contributions on line as you prefer.
Thanks a lot for all your support, with regards,
BK
