Providing through SMS knowledge to girls about how protect themselves of sexual abuse and HIV in rural areas in Mexico and Guatemala
Among the rural youth of the southern states of Mexico and Guatemala, 88% do not know any method of contraception or disease prevention according to the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. This means that almost 9 out of 10 girls in rural areas still lack the knowledge to Protect Themselves against HIV, nor know what to do when they are victims of sexual abuse.
These girls urgently need to know how to protect themselves but culturally for indigenous girls is a big taboo to ask about sexual matters then is almost impossible to ask information in person and that threatens the life of them. This project will affect girls adolescents in rural areas to acquire information through SMS in three states of Mexico and four in Guatemala and ensure they know how to protect themselves.
This project will educate 3000 teenage girls on how to protect their own body and how to prevent and report sexual abuse, that will make a difference between having the human right to live healthy and enjoy being girls regardless of living in rural areas of developing countries.
