Summary
Non Formal Education Centres provide children in rural areas with access to quality education, creative, interactive and joyful environment. Children are enabled to develop comprehensive knowledge.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
WED Trust runs non-formal education (NFE) centres to cater to children from poor families in 25 villages of Tamilnadu. NFEs equip children with essential skills for coping with the challenges of contemporary life.
How will this project solve this problem?
NFEs run in community halls allotted by villagers. Children are taught by village young men/women the basic numeric & literacy skills. Besides good habits, creative activities, cultural perform techniques and environmental education.
Potential Long Term Impact
Enabling children to read and write independently with comprehension; Enabling rural communities to experience alternative and meaningful education; empowering communities to demand quality education from the government.
