This proposal requests funding providing shelter and program services to women and children who are escaping domestic abuse, trafficking, forced prostitution or other forms violence and abuse in Mitrovica, Kosovo.
Violence against women and children in Kosovo is high, it shares the lowest gender development index in the region according to the UNDP gender development index. The UN Women Organization's also reports that of the more than 1,000 officially-reported cases of domestic violence every year in Kosovo, 90 per cent are from women. This project will increase awareness to over 200,000 people in Kosovo, and provide shelter services to more than 100 women and children victims' of all forms of violence.
CPWC-RV will provide 2 major services: 1. preventive activities - awareness raising campaign, and 2. shelter services: nutrition, clothing, health care and medicine, psychosocial sessions, vocational trainings. Through these services CPWC-RV aims to prevent all forms of violence and heal those who have been violated.
The project will increase awareness of more than 200,000 people in Kosovo about domestic violence, and will provide its shelter services and programs to more than 100 victims of all forms of violence by healing and re-integrating them in the society. The long-term effect of this project will be a society with reduced violence against women and children.
