There are many economically disadvantaged and displaced families in every part of Turkey that can not even afford a pair of shoes for their children to walk to school. We understand that boots alone are not a cure for the many problems they face, but certainly do play a part in lifting their spirits and give them hope. A pair of boots will ensure a child's feet will be protected from the cold snows of winter, and give them the chance to walk with pride alongside more privileged fellow student.
We read about this problem almost everyday in the news. A child walking to school in the cold of winter with slippers. Providing winter boots for needy students is a simple yet effective way to erase the stigma of poverty and provide warmth to their feet in the middle of winter.
Project will especially include students devastated by a 7.1 magnitute deadly EARTHQUAKE in VAN province on October 23rd, 2011.
A modest $15 gift will ensure a child's feet will be protected from the cold snows of winter, not get sick very easily due to improper shoes, and give them the chance to walk with pride alongside more privileged fellow students.
The project will provide 2330 pair of boots to needy Turkish children, mostly living in rural Anatolia, or underpriviliged part of big cities. Children will feel happy and stay healthy. It will ease some pain of parents who might be feeling inferior about not providing for their kids as it should be, and make school teachers happy to see kids are happy and ready more to learn at school without dealing basic problems of life...
