This project will build two permanent hostels building on land that we currently own in Hoima, Uganda. We have been using the innovative hostel method to help children from Refugee Settlement and underdeveloped communities in Uganda gain access to quality education. Education serves as the means to bring about the desired change in society.
Lack of access to quality education for children in Kyangwali refugee settlement and other under-privileged rural communities in western Uganda. Kyangwali refugee settlement of about 23,000 refugees and over 30,000 national, more than 50% are youth of 20 years and below but only two primary schools which are overcrowded with unqualified teachers and one secondary school that only went up to form four. Always girls are forced to drop out of school, forced into early marriage.
The two permanent hostel buildings will enable refugee and underprivileged Uganda Children get access to better and functional education by providing them with accommodation near the best schools in the region. We remove geographic barriers to education. Students who stay at the hostels benefit from a strong sense of community and mutual support.
CIYOTA strives to unite, educate and empower every individual we touch to be a problem-solving, visionary and socially responsible leader. We believe that there is a high need to prepare the current generation of young future leaders in bringing real and lasting change and transformation to Africa. If we build these hostel buildings, thousands of poor children access quality education; an individual who had access to education is an important tool in the long-term general community development.
