This project pays fees for 120 orphaned teens from the Good Samaritan Home in Nairobi, Kenya to attend high school. No free secondary schools exist in Kenya.
The Good Samaritan Home accepts children from the Mathare Slum in Nairobi, Kenya. These children are are found on the streets or referred to the home. Many are orphaned by AIDS. Three hundred children are served by the orphanage at this time. Each year 120 of these young people are enrolled in high school. Tuition for one year costs $1050, three times the average Kenyan's annual income. The orphanage supports 180 younger children as well as the high school students.
This project will provide funds to pay fees, uniforms and books for students attending high school. It makes more funds available to younger children in the home.
We will send 120 students to high school, affecting their intellectual life, well-being, and finances. An educated Kenya may stabilize the economy through creative problem solving.
