Water is Life: Update on Our Community Water Tank

Raising our water tank
Raising our water tank

Dear Friends of Tumaini,

We are grateful for the support towards the wellbeing of our children. They enjoy the good health and the good environment at the centre because of you. This has not just happened, it has come a long way which has involved you and your commitment. We just don’t take this for granted, but we really appreciate and we know this is happening because of your sacrifice and commitment to change lives.

Water is life as they say. To have clean and running water helps very much especially in protecting children from water borne diseases. Tumaini children have always had a problem with water and our boreholes dry up for more than five months every year. Children are forced to fetch water from the stream, which gives us hard time as the water is not treated. We are hoping to drill water and this project started early last year. This was to enable Tumaini family to have running water throughout the year and not only Tumaini family but even the community members. We have managed to buy a 10,000 litre tank and we have done the fabrication and we have raised the tank. We have not drilled the water yet and the tank has been raised and this is now the second year with the tank up without water. We know if we can come together this will happen and our children will have clean and running water. Drilling has not happened because of lack of funds but we have always made it in other projects together. Clean and running water is part of good hygiene for the children and for the general use at home.

How will this happen? We have made always made things happen, and through sharing with our friends and family, it makes a difference. We have seen it happening and we know having clean and running water for our lovely children will make a difference in their home.

Thank you so much once again for your support and commitment.

Provision of good environment

Last month during school holidays we had a wonderful time with our high school students. It was nice to see our previous primary pupils advising the current primary pupils on how important education is and life in high school. They enocuraged them to work hard to be able to join good high schools.

Our high school students are in boarding school and they only come back over school holidays. They are all impressed with the environment at the home, the care and encouragement. It was very different from the environment at high school and they said they love their home. Our time together with all the children both high school and primary was wonderful.

The happiness these children have at their home and even the school at Tumaini could not have been the way it is without our dear donors and friends who have always sacrificed to give and make this happen. All we have from the beddings, beds, utensils, clothing, furnitures have made a difference in the lives of our children. This has made them feel they at home and like other children.

Without the good environment children can't do well in school and this affects  their performance. They feel isolated and they can't concentrate well. This has not happened to our children as they feel at home and just like other children. Your support has brought smiles to many faces and the achievements are great.

It is our prayer and hope that we will keep on sharing about this cause to enable us do better. The need is high and when we expand our donor family we know we will continue to do what we can for better achievements. Our children need more beddings, beds, utensils and furnitures. The only way we can improve is to spread the word about TMSC and through friends, clubs and social sites. We are grateful for your sacrifice and commitment towards the lives of our children and Tumaini.

We wish you happy valentine!

Happy Valentine to all our friends!

Our progress is great!  We have had lots of improvements in our children's home, our study room was in a very bad shape, the floor had started coming out and we thank our friends who have helped us repair th floor. Its now great and very children are very happy to have a nice floor with tiles.

Our babies are coming up nicely, they are in good health and we are grateful for all who have helped us with diapers and the formullar! Everything that is hapening in the lives of these children is because of you, we just cant be able to take care of the babies, one day old if it is for your support.

As we continue to change lives and give the children the happiness and a good home they need, I would like to let you know that your support is what is making this happen and I am requesting you to spread the word about our work to more friends so that we can be able to expand our donor family. This will enable us give th best to the children and reach more lives in the community. We will also be able to have more opprotunities in the global matching campaigns and this will be great for the children  and the work we are doing.

We love you so much and we are proud to have you in our family!

Thank you so much and have a wonderful Valentine day filled with love.

Brighten a child's christmas

Games time during the camp
Games time during the camp

It is another time that we are thanking you for your support, encouragement, sacrifice and the commitment you have shown in the wellbeing of our children. We have experienced growth and lots of great changes both in the lives of children, the entire Tumaini project and community.  This has not happened because we know how to work things out or we are working hard, this has actually happened because of you. You have stood with us, you have committed yourself and you have shared the word about us which has continued to expand our family.

Your support has seen our children excel in their education, feel like  other children in the community, access good medical attention and have a good home.  Tumaini children feel the homely environment and are very grateful.

We had a successful camp for our children and children from our community and other disticts. We had over 350 children and the children had a great time. They recieved teachings, the tenagers were also given guidelines as they approach the adolescence. We had great games time, dance and prayers as well. This was a blessing and our children are having a good foundation of their lives.

Christmas is here with us again! Global giving is matching all the donations that are made during this month. We are also looking forward to brightening our children's Christmas and New Year’s celebration. Getting a child a new dress, a pair of shoe, a good meal or even a candy over Christmas will bring a big smile on a child's face. This is the only time most of the children get to have a new dress or shoe and even a good meal. As global giving is giving us a matching to donations, we believe this will help us put a smile on a child's face over this Christmas! Help us make this Christmas different,

May you continue to share the word with others for expansion of our family and support. Thank you for making Tumaini what it is! May the almighty God continue to bless you, your families and your work.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPERIOUS HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Giving care and hope

We thank our donors and their efforts in restoring hope in many children. As we are experiencing difficulties in our economy it takes heart to share the little we can get with others. TMSC does not take this sacrifice lightly, we apreciate the difference you are making in lives.

Baby Mark was recieved at Tumaini 5 days ago and was not only abandoned but dumped in a pit latrine with one day old. He was rescued and taken to the hospital after treatment he had no home. He was taken in by a lady who stays in a rented one roomed house and who had other children to take care of. We were called upon  after a social worker  who volunteers in the village was told about us.  Baby Mark is six weeks and he has a place to call home.  We as Tumaini cant say we are managing and are able without our donors who have always sacrificed to give a good home to these little ones. A home that is conducive and gives them an environment to feel just like other children.

We thank you all for your contribution and for sharing about TMSC, together we are making this happen and many lives are being transformed with a better future. Share our new project care for an orphan/abandoned child to support us give Mark a good home and environment.
