Friends of PFF: Spring Report

thinc Club Garden Project
thinc Club Garden Project

To our friends of PFF,

Thank you again for your support. We are 45 days away from our anchor event - the thinc program. This year we are doubling the number of students who will participate. It has been quite a year, and we can’t thank you enough for your continued support.

We run the Purple Feet Foundation with a 100% volunteer staff and support our programs through private donations. Here is what we are investing in together:

"The reason I would like to attend the thinc program is to meet new people like me who would like to learn and have fun. I would like to learn new things and find out what really makes me, me. I would also like to thinc about my future and what I want to be. I'd like to get away from all the drama and drug dealing for a week. I would like to relax for once and worry about "me." I think that the thinc program can help me get started on some of these things."

Friends of PFF Update #1 - 2014

#GivingTuesday Book Drive
#GivingTuesday Book Drive

Hi, everyone.

Thank you so much for your generous donations in the past two months.  We are off to a great start in 2014 and wanted to share some quick updates with about the Purple Feet Foundation.

We are gearing up for this year's thinc program and are doubling the number of students who will be able to participate.  Our holiday book drive for #Giving Tuesday was a huge success!  We also hosted a wildly successful Community Science Night in Harrisburg to kick off the recruitment process for thinc 2014.  All in all, the new year is off to a fantastic start.

Thank you again!

Top 5 Updates for Friends of the Purple Feet Foundation

Kindness
Kindness

Thank you so much for your continued support of the Purple Feet Foundation (PFF).  It's been a great fall and we have a lot of updates that we want to share. In fact, we have so many that we're going to narrow it down to our top 5.

#5 - As you already know, the thinc Program this past August was a huge success thanks to your support. If you haven't watched it yet, here is our #thinc2013 video.

#4 - The thinc Program was such a success that we had some really awesome news coverage. Check out our new "newsroom" page on the PFF website.

#3 - This fall we started our thinc Career Chats to connect really amazing people who have equally amazing careers with students who are "thincing" about their futures. Our first one for this school year featured four-time Super Bowl champion J.T. Thomas. His message was powerful and the kids loved him. Check it out here.

#2 - To strengthen the connection between the students who attend each year, we are bringing the students together twice during the year.  This coming Saturday we will visit Villanova University for a mini-reunion and then we'll get together again in the spring.

#1 - We have decided that in order to really fulfill our vision for the thinc Program we need to work with the students over the course of multiple years. So, this Saturday the students who attended last summer as sixth graders will be invited to attend again in the summer of 2014. Plus, we'll accept a new group of sixth graders. Ultimately, we will work with the students for three consecutive years until they reach high school. When they do that, we'll invite them back as counselors.

Making all of this happen for at-risk students who crave opportunities and embrace kindness is only possible because of you.

Thank you again for your support of the Purple Feet Foundation!

Purple Feet Foundation thinc Program 2013

thinc 2012 Group Photo

Thank you so much for supporting the Purple Feet Foundation's thinc Program.  Your generosity goes directly to support students in attending our week-long, residential experience in Valley Forge, PA.  Last year we were able to bring students from Harrisburg (PA), Philadelphia (PA) and Prince George's County (MD), and this summer we will also be adding students from a district in Delaware or North Carolina.

The application for this year's thinc Program opens in two weeks on March 25!

Every year we have been able to expand the thinc Program and it is ONLY because of friends like you who give so generously.

Since the last Global Giving update, we launched our thinc Career Chats as another way of maintaining a connection with students who have attended past thinc Programs.  These online interviews with people who have really interesting careers also serve to inspire students from all around the world who don't attend our thinc Program in person.  Our last chat was with the senior editor of X-Men at Marvel Entertainment, and we had classes from FL, IL, MD, MO, PA, TX and Canada participate.

We encourage you to explore all that's happening with Purple Feet on our site, Facebook and Twitter.

Thank you again for your generosity and kindness.  It really does make the world a better place.
